Scan CAN messages with UART 2.1

The latest version of the UART interface (2.1) has support for sniffing for CAN messages. I see there are some cursory notes on how this can be done, but no sample code. While I understand the library may not yet have this integrated, would you be able to share some sample code for sniffing CAN messages?
