Freematics OBD-II initial testing

I am trying to communicate with the Freematics OBD-II Adapter that I just received.

I want to use a USB connector from my Windows machine or Mac to communicate with ELM327 AT commands.

It does not work.

Can someone point me at a proper set of instructions to do so....
