Datalogger not write to microSD in Freematics ONE

Post by cpontow »

I have a problem with Datalogger. I compiled and uploaded the datalogger sketch with Freematics Arduino Builder. Unfortunately, no data file is written on the 8GB MicroSD when I plug in the FreematicsONE on the OBD including the GPS add-on and a short drive. The blue LED will initially flash several times with pause and then once every second. The microSD card remains empty. What can this be? At my vehicle (Mercedes Bj 2003) other OBD sticks with Bluetooth or WIFI work correctly.

Thanks for Help

Take a look at serial out for any clue. It's possible that your car uses a older protocol like ISO9141-2 which is unsupported.

Hi Stanley,
My vehicle supports ISO14230-4, which corresponds to KWP2000.
According to Freematics' OBD-II Compatibility, KWP2000 Fast is supported.

It should be. Have you checked serial output?

Use Arduino IDE or any serial monitor software.

Freematics ONE electric malfunction Datalogger

Post by cpontow »

Hi Stanley,
Unfortunately, I have not had good experiences with the Freematics ONE.
As you recommended I monitored the stick via USB at the terminal.
I have made several promising attempts.
Here the first attempt without GPS plugged only to OBD socket and parallel the terminal session via USB:
Freematics ONE
Firmware Ver. 11
MEMS OK
OBD Stage: 2
NO
Reconnect
GPS NO
SD OK
File: DAT00001.CSV
9 samples 0.4 sps 136 bytes
etc.
All attempts of recording without USB terminal session failed.
With USB terminal session, I have several times successfully performed a recording without a GPS module. The files DAT00002.CSV - DAT00005.CSV I have also attached.
Now there is an electrical problem. Obviously, the micro USB socket from the Freematics module does not cope with frequent USB cable connections.
After many tests, the blue LED does not light anymore, only if you wiggle the USB port. If the contact has been restored manually, the datalogger function is present sporadically.
After opening the case, I found that all solder joints of the USB jack are loose and interrupted.
In this condition, unfortunately, I can not do anything with the OBD Datalogger Freematics ONE. I will send you the Freematics ONE and accessories back.
If you send me a tested device for this, which records perfectly without SDD SDD OBD data on SD, I will not resign from the purchase.
Please send me the replacement without having to pay customs again.
Unfortunately, the purchase of the Freematics ONE has dragged on without my fault from June to October, since only the second delivery arrived here.

Best Regards

Hi Stanley
Why is only data recorded on the SD when a terminal session is running via USB?
Without a terminal session, the blue LED flashes, but no file is written to the SD.
For the test, I have the Freematics plugged into the OBD socket in the car and run a terminal session on a Windows PC via COM interface.

Thanks for your efforts
