Can I monitor the voltage if vehicle is parked?

Firstly, what a great product; and very affordable too ... nice work!
I have an OBD II port in my car, which has a permanent voltage while the car is switch off.
I also noticed when I parked the car for 4 weeks over the Xmas period that the battery went flat. (It is a new battery; I left the car unlocked, and suspect either the keyless go, or vehicle's CAN modules to slowly drain the battery slowly to the point that it won't start the car).
Interested in the Freematics 'dongle' in principle, and wanting to monitor the Voltage of the parked car, I was wondering, whether the Freematics OBD readers only work, when the ignition is on, or also when the vehicle is parked (ignition off) -- car locked or unlocked?
Any hints appreciated.
