OBD-II UART Adapter DTC NO DATA and sleep mode

Hi,
I have an OBD-II UART Adapter which I am using with the OBD-II Emulator device and GUI.
First of all, I have a question concerning the device itself. It looks like it always goes to a sort of sleepmode after a short time because the Red Led is off and the first command I try to send leads to a "?" response.
Is it normal and is there a way to turn off this sleep mode?
Also, for any protocol compliant with the UART OBD adapter, I have troubles to get the DTC.
If I set a random DTC like "P0444" in Freematics Emulator GUI for CAN 500Kbps/11bit protocol (or others) and I send a "03" command to the UART Adapter I always get "NO DATA". I tried different DTC, same thing...
While other command like "0902" works fine.
Do you have an idea if this is a problem, and why I always get "NO DATA"?
Thank you,
Best regards,
Marc
