Hello Freematics, I am interested in the OBD-II Telematics Kit #3 or OBD-II Telematics Kit #2, what is the difference between #2 and #3? I want to use it for different cars. Battery electric cars for example do not have an OBD II connector or not much data is visible. But do the GPS and Gyro still work in these cars without OBD II? I have also a car with OBD-II but I want to use it in both cars. So in the battery car Gyro and GPS logging is sufficient. Will the kit be powered without OBD-II connection?

The kit looks to differ only in the screen size as kit #2 and kit #3 specifications and software appear the same in other regards.

I have kit #3 and can easily disable OBD-II and power with the USB port or the DC socket no problem though the Megalogger sketch would require relatively simple modification to configure the display of only GPS & MEMS data.

Just feed the board with 5V and everything will work fine even without OBD-II. Despite the different screen size, Kit #3 has only one screen shield attached on the Arduino MEGA 2560 while Kit #2 has a breakout shield and a screen shield stacked together on a compact Arduino MEGA 2560 board.
