I just purchased the UART adapter and am trying to run the simple RPM program. I have set it up, and been able to get it to work in my neighbor's 2005 Mazda3, and my roommates 2010 Scion tC. However, it will not work in my 2008 Acura TL Type S. I'm wondering if my car requires the I2C protocol? Or if I can run that protocol with this adapter? Or how to find out which protocol my OBD-II part uses.
I have taken my car to a local acura dealer and ensured that the port is working well with a normal OBD-II scanner.

Do you have idea what protocol does your car use? Is it ISO9141-2, KWP2000 or CAN bus?

CAN if i read it correctly. It has pins 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 14, and 16. From the few sites I read this is an indicator of the CAN protocol, plus being 2008 makes this most likely.

However, when finally speaking to the Acura mechanics, they said that their OBD reader says "searching for ISO 9141" or something along that lines. So it could be either. Would either explain this predicament?
