For some reason this site won't let me reply to the post on this topic by bick51...I've replied to others and every other post I could open for reply...just that one seems "locked" to me.
Anyway...I have the same question...from the product description it implies it supports CAN so how do we go ...

I've only got the "B" model on hand but I would be surprised if it's more than a couple hundred milliamps during query/response.

I know this is an old post but the answer is "it depends".
Check the fuse for the car's OBD connector - should be a 15A-20A fuse. So that would be the max.
OBD port is meant to power a diagnostic tool with small LCD so typically not expected to draw more than a couple amps.

I am getting a variety of errors compiling this sample.
