The OBD adapter that comes with kit 1 is a UART version instead of I2C version.

If you are using kit 2, the default setup is for the microSD on data logger shield.

You can perform DTC readout and clear with this kit. You need to write your own sketch though. The OBD library provides API for accessing DTC.
